ED Technician-Full Time 7P-7A, EOW

Job Title: Emergency Room Technician Department: Emergency Department

Reports to: Director of Emergency Department Revision Date: 9/21/2023

Grade Level: 15 Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Emergency Departments Clinical Director, or their designee, perform various duties assisting in the care and treatment of Emergency Department patients, their families, and visitors to the Emergency Department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

As an ED Technician your main job focus is to assist the nurses and providers in the care of our patients by preforming the following duties:

  • Signing patients into the emergency department.
  • Obtaining the patients' vital signs and placing patient on cardiac monitors.
  • Preforming EKGs.
  • Prepare patients for exams.
  • Assisting with medical set up for versus procedures.
  • Compiling all medical paperwork from patients visit for medical records.
  • Measuring and fitting patients with orthopedic supplies.
  • Drawing blood.
  • Collecting specimens.
  • Cleaning and stocking rooms.
  • Handle telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for patient confidentiality.
  • Contacting other hospitals and specialty providers when requested.
  • Arranging medical transport when needed.
  • Assist in transporting Behavioral Health patient as directed/needed.
  • Transporting patient to different areas of the hospital.
  • Preforming CPR.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities (Unit Specific):

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED is required. Previous patient care experience strongly preferred. Current CPR preferred. Valid NYS Driver's license is required.

Working Conditions:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds, fine motor skills, visual acuity.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range: $16.65-$19.98/hr

Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
